During this spring, the development team of the Auto Cove 2.0 project, in collaboration with Omnia’s procurement services, arranged a tender for a fully electric car for the project.
49 600 euros were allocated for the purchase of a fully electric car in the Auto Cove project to enable the project’s development work. Since Omnia’s Auto Cove development team is developing content on the calibration and repair of advanced driver assistance systems within the project, the goal was to acquire a car, which would have as many statically calibrated ADAS systems as possible. Static calibration is performed in a garage with the car stationary. In contrast, cars in the same price range from Volvo require dynamic calibration, which is done while driving. This was the reason, why Omnia did not choose a vehicle from Volvo, although Volvocars Finland is Auto Cove’s full partner in Auto Cove project.
The tender was won by Skoda, and last Saturday, automotive development teacher Matti Rämö collected the car from Bilia -company in Espoo. The previous day, Omnia’s legal expert had handled the car’s registration and ensured it was properly insured.
Antti Järvenpää, Matti Rämö, Jan Borg and Juha Hämäläinen familiarized themselves with the functionalities of the Skoda Enyaq 60 Business Model immediately last Sunday while driving it to the Taitaja competitions in Kuopio. Antti Järvenpää and Matti Rämö act as judges at the ADAS station during the Finnish National Skills competition: “Taitaja 2024″ in Kuopio, Finland”.
