9 study modules and training courses
The Auto-Cove 2.0 consortium is developing innovative study modules and training courses focused on alternative fuel vehicle service and sales across three European Qualifications Framework (EQF) levels. All courses developed within the project are funded by the European Union and are completely free for users. Upon completion, they will be published and stored in the Electude e-learning platform.

These educational initiatives aim to address the urgent need for expertise in servicing electrified and hydrogen vehicles, ensuring that both new graduates and existing professionals are equipped to navigate the evolving landscape of the automotive industry.

ADAS Module Piloting at Omnia
Since early 2024, Omnia’s automotive teachers — including Antti Järvenpää, Matti Rämö, Juha Hämäläinen, and Jan Borg — have been developing entirely new study content focused on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This module also extends beyond mechanics to include sales training, with Anna Nuuja collaborating with VTT’s Merja Penttinen to tailor materials for car and spare parts sales.

Over the past year, the ADAS training has been piloted three times as two-day hands-on sessions, during which students practiced calibrating front cameras and radars under expert guidance ([turn0search0]). Upon project completion, the initiative will produce 13 technical study modules and 10 teacher training courses—all available in English and eight partner languages on the Electude e-learning platform, free to users for five years.

The Auto-CoVE 2.0 consortium is creating modern study modules and training programs on alternative fuel vehicle service and sales, designed across three levels of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). Fully funded by the European Union, these courses will be freely accessible to all users and hosted on the Electude e-learning platform once completed.

The initiative responds to the growing demand for skills in working with electrified and hydrogen vehicles, helping both students and professionals gain the expertise needed to succeed in the rapidly changing automotive sector.

Auto-CoVE 2.0’s international internship programme aims to bridge the gap between vocational training and the rapidly evolving clean-vehicle industry. Through work-based learning across eight European countries, it provides students — both at secondary (VET) and tertiary (HEI) levels — with hands-on experience in electric, hybrid, hydrogen, and advanced vehicle systems

Inclusivity is a core principle: mobilities are designed to include students from underrepresented groups, with the aim that at least one-third of participants come from diverse or marginalized backgrounds.

Between December 2024 and May 2025, the programme comprised seven student flows, involving 26 students (11 VET, 15 HEI) who collectively completed 711 days of internships across five countries.

International Internship: Turkish students in Latvia
A standout example of these mobilities involved three Turkish students from İzmit Vocational Technical High School who undertook an internship in Latvia. They completed a transformative placement where they worked alongside host professionals, gaining practical skills and immersive insights into international automotive practices

Beyond technical training, students explored local culture, bonded with Latvian staff, and even enjoyed city activities like riding electric bikes. Their time at Ventspils Reiss offered not only skill development, but also valuable exposure to sustainable transportation practices in another EU country.

3rd Collaborative Development Workshop in Lithuania
From May 6–8, 2025, Kaunas hosted the third Auto-CoVE 2.0 Collaborative Development Workshop at Kautech. The event gathered educators, researchers, and industry experts to co-create training content on EV and hybrid safety, battery diagnostics, ADAS, and hydrogen technologies. Hands-on sessions covered topics such as battery assembly, disassembly, and high-voltage fire safety, with contributions from partners including Electude, VTT, THWS, Volvo, and Kautech.

The workshop ended with a joint session on designing future training modules. Alongside the technical programme, participants also explored Kaunas’ culture, strengthening cross-border cooperation and community within the project.

Steering Committee Convenes in Lyon
The Auto CoVE 2.0 Steering Committee held its 4th Transnational Meeting in Lyon at SEPR, gathering partners from across Europe to drive forward clean-tech vehicle education. The two-day event focused on progress in study module development, research outputs, and training strategies, with contributions from the Electude platform and the ANFA playbook. Industry connections played a key role: participants heard a virtual presentation from Symbio on hydrogen fuel-cell innovations and visited Groupe Chopard and Renault Trucks to see project themes in action. Student impact was also highlighted, as former interns from Bilia Oy shared personal experiences from their mobility.

The meeting concluded with strategic planning on quality management and dissemination, followed by a tour of SEPR’s campus that strengthened collaboration and team spirit. Overall, the Lyon meeting marked another step toward equipping Europe’s automotive sector for a sustainable, green future.

Finnish Experts Share ADAS Insights at Kaunas Educational Center
In mid-January 2025, two seasoned automotive instructors from Finland—Antti Järvenpää and Matti Rämö—visited the Kaunas Education Center of Technologies (Kautech) to lead an in-depth ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) training session for local automotive teachers. Their expertise, built on years of hands-on ADAS work, helped demystify the complex systems — including cameras, radar, and lidar — that are central to modern vehicle safety.

The training wasn’t just about theory: it focused on practical understanding, including system calibration and diagnostics. Alongside sharing technical knowledge, the Finnish experts freely passed along professional tips and “insider” know-how that typically isn’t found in textbooks

The workshop was carried out under the banner of Auto-CoVE 2.0, reinforcing the project’s commitment to green, collaborative vocational education and teacher development across Europe.

Netzwerktreffen 2024 — Bridging Science & Industry

In late 2024, Auto CoVE 2.0 hosted Netzwerktreffen 2024, bringing together academic experts and industry professionals in electrotechnics. The event focused on aligning vocational education with real-world automotive trends, including electric vehicles, ADAS, and safety systems. Presentations and discussions explored emerging technologies and practical training needs, while networking fostered collaboration between educators and employers. The meeting strengthened partnerships and helped shape future-ready curricula, advancing Auto‑CoVE 2.0’s mission of green innovation and vocational excellence. The event was highly successful, offering an excellent opportunity for TTZ-EMO to present findings from the Auto Cove project and connect with industry professionals, researchers, and developers.

Auto CoVE 2.0 Showcased at VET Policymakers Meeting in Silesian Parliament

 

Our project was featured at a prestigious gathering of European vocational education and training (VET) policymakers hosted in the Silesian Parliament in Poland. The event brought together high-level representatives from education ministries, social partners, and EU institutions to discuss strategies shaping the future of VET — particularly the role of Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) in responding to the twin green and digital transitions

Auto CoVE’s presentation highlighted its alignment with European priorities around sustainability, digital innovation, and workforce readiness. It highlighted how the project equips VET institutions and learners with the skills, resources, and collaborative networks necessary to meet evolving industry demands.

International ADAS Workshop — Scalda College Students Visit Omnia

On May 15, 2025, a group of five automotive mechanic students along with two accompanying instructors from Scalda College in the Netherlands participated in an international ADAS workshop hosted by Omnia in Finland
This immersive, hands-on workshop focused on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)—an essential technology pillar in modern vehicle safety and driving comfort.

Participants engaged with practical learning experiences, working directly with sensor, camera, and radar systems to deepen their technical understanding. The visit fostered valuable cross-border exchange, enabling students and instructors to gain new insights into ADAS technologies and teaching methods, strengthening vocational education ties across Europe.

Auto-CoVE 2.0 at Auto Skills Europe in Paris

On June 17, 2025, Auto-CoVE 2.0 was presented at the first Auto Skills Europe event in Paris, organized by ANFA. Pelin Ünlü (SEPR, Lyon) introduced the project to European stakeholders, highlighting the skills gap analysis and showcasing the Electude e-learning platform where new study modules will be hosted. The event raised Auto-CoVE 2.0’s profile among VET leaders and reinforced its role in shaping future mobility training across Europe.

Traineeships Showcased at International Conference in Lithuania

On May 7–8, 2025, the Lithuanian Engineering College (Lietuvos Inžinerijos Kolegija) hosted an international conference spotlighting Auto-CoVE 2.0 traineeships. The event featured the project’s mobility experiences, presenting how internships empower students with hands-on training in clean-tech automotive fields. Delegates heard firsthand how these work-based placements enhance technical skills, vocational readiness, and international collaboration. By showcasing the programme at a high-level educational gathering, Auto-CoVE 2.0 reinforced its position as a leading initiative in transforming Europe’s automotive vocational training.

Dissemination Meeting at İzmit Vocational and Technical High School

İzmit Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School hosted a dissemination event to present the results of Auto-CoVE 2.0. The meeting gathered school leaders, teachers, students, and local stakeholders to highlight achievements in mobilities, training, and international cooperation. Principal remarks underlined the project’s impact on professional and personal development, while participants shared experiences supported by a visual presentation. The event concluded with a Q&A, certificate ceremony, and group photo, reinforcing the school’s commitment to clean technology education and Europe’s green transition.
